Poetry is the journal of the sea animal living on land, wanting to fly in the air. Poetry is a search for syllables to shoot at the barriers of the unknown and the unknowable. Poetry is a phantom script telling how rainbows are made and why they go away. 港詩人 埃及誦詩交流
 一次進入生命的旅程

　前往埃及，是詩一般的旅程。雖然我們一行來自不同的國度，有不一樣的膚色，不同的職業，但肯定的是我們都愛詩，而且都是道地的香港人。　　一位埃及人，是香港駐科威特領事館的中文翻譯員，也是詩人。他將六十多首中、英詩，譯成阿拉伯文，更組織一批國際文化隊伍遠赴開羅舉行畫展、攝影展和詩歌朗誦會，並擔任我們的領隊。

　3月25日中午，我們從赤臘角國際機場起飛，在曼谷停了一個小時，再飛到中東的巴林島，在機場酒店過了一夜，第二天中午再飛三個多小時，終於抵達開羅。

　這一段飛行過程中，我從機窗望下去，只經過極短的澄藍色的海，餘下就是萬里無際的沙漠。抵達當天，開羅的報紙即用八版篇幅介紹我們的詩，加上每版都有彩色配圖，真的很精美。我們朗誦的詩都是自己的創作，有個自稱是「鬼佬」的澳洲人David，在香港居住了45年，廣東話說得比誰都好；他五年前患癌，做手術時輸過大量的血，所以他說：「我的血是中國的，只有外表和膚色是父母給的。」　

四海一心同圓美夢

　有位在香港樂施會工作的女攝影家兼詩人Madeleine，剛在台北開過攝影暨詩展，帶一箱作品到埃及展出。有出生在四川的詩人鄭單衣，揚名於國際，居住香港。有兩位是印度畫家兼詩人Gauri和mani。還有兩位是英國文化協會的教師Alan和Pauline，Pauline 的心腸和她的歌聲一樣好，當她見到有人拿兩包面紙在街上兜售，她就給錢，而且每次都有充足理由；一次她說，那老婦人並不是行乞，而是在賣紙巾；一次在塞車途中，有個孕婦在車龍陣間兜售，她說：「她懷孕了，很危險的，買包紙巾罷！」

　天真浪漫的澳洲兒童故事作家Sarah，雖然與丈夫離了婚，但她對兩名女兒仍情深似海，展現在長途電話的緊密連繫上。而Jamila的外表像極了中國人，但她說只有四分一是中國血統。有位高大的Martin是利比亞出生的英國人。他說，視今次旅程是他與出生地的一種聯繫方式。他的父親懂阿拉伯文，而他的詩被翻譯為阿拉伯文字，是他送給父親的最佳禮物。當然，還有我們的領隊，來自開羅大學中文系，又到北京修研中文，現在香港工作的Sayed，以及從台灣到香港的筆者。

柔美接觸拉近距離

　Sayed與大多數的詩人一樣，是一位將詩歌融入生命的詩人，他說：「我不在乎做甚麼工作，那只是求生活的一種方式；而我不能沒有詩，因為詩是我的生命。」他認為，只要知道這是一首別的國家的詩歌，就可了解到別的國家的文化。近年來，Sayed忙於把外國的詩（中文、英文）翻譯為阿拉伯文，他認為，一來可將外國文化介紹給自己的同胞，二來可拉近阿拉伯語系國家與西方國家的距離。這次有英文詩歌在開羅朗誦，可以說是自從911恐怖襲擊、美國總統選舉、美國攻打阿富汗、伊拉克雙方緊張的關係之後，少有的，穆斯林世界與英語世界有了唯美與柔和的接觸。

　而對我來說，這次旅行則是夢想成真的詩之旅。

12位來自不同國家地區的香港詩人與開羅本地的詩人Mohamed Huseing、Yusry　Khamis、Ahmed Bikheet等等，以英文、普通話、阿拉伯文朗誦詩歌。春日夜晚，一輪明月掛在開羅的高樓大廈與樹稍之間，微風輕拂綠葉，樹下有個講台，有張桌子和幾張椅，詩人、畫家、音樂人聚在一起讀詩、彈琴、唱歌，喝土耳其咖啡，飲埃及茶。真沒想到，當開羅人問起我們是那裏人？個個都異口同聲的說：「我是香港人。」

 

埃及人愛慕中華文化

　我們拜訪埃及著名作家兼文學新聞報總編輯Gamal el-Ghetany。他的許多小說都被翻譯為法文並成暢銷書，甚至巴黎香水有以他的名字做為商品的牌子。我認為他的地位可能相當於我們的金庸。據他說，每當他寫作的時候，喜聽中國的音樂，能帶給他創作的無限靈感。

　埃及有7000多年歷史文明，中國才5000多年，但我察覺到埃及人打從心底羨慕中華文化。這是因為從古文明國來說，中、埃雖然都是古老的東方文明國家，但埃及文明有斷層，除了考古學家和古埃及歷史學家以外，埃及一般的人對古代文化所知不多，包括文字和語言。而中國5000年來文化一脈相傳，現代華人可輕易看懂5000年前的文字，了解祖先的智慧和生活經驗。這恰恰是埃及人對自己文化的遺憾之處，而中華文化免除了子孫與先輩之間極可能出現的「隔閡」。在我的理解中，這也是埃及人對古老中國嚮往好奇的原因。另外，自歷史角度看，中埃之間從未有過戰爭，兩國交戰必定引發仇恨，難有和睦親善之情。

文化傳承古今一脈

　我的朋友朱高正在多年前，曾為德國人當場「翻譯」3000年前兵馬俑上的文字，在場的外國人十分訝異！而高正兄自豪地告訴他們：「這是我們中學生也輕易看得懂的！」世上最重要的東西，往往由於太重要，反而容易被忽視。

　作為中國人的驕傲，是我們能輕易看懂5000年前的詩文，例如3000年前的易經所講的內容是上溯3000年前的事情。中華文化得天獨厚，沒有斷層；這是我們中華民族最珍貴的遺產。這種博大精深的文化底蘊，就在我們一出世時，像一塊毛氈包裹我們的身軀，像空氣一樣，但由於太重要了，所以又不覺得應該怎樣去珍惜。人性總是在失去之後，才懂得甚麼叫得到。

　寄望香港與埃及的文化交流，能借此次機會打開一道頻繁的大門，互蒙其利，截長補短。
