Poetry is the journal of the sea animal living on land, wanting to fly in the air. Poetry is a search for syllables to shoot at the barriers of the unknown and the unknowable. Poetry is a phantom script telling how rainbows are made and why they go away. Serenade

Judy Keung - Hong Kong

 

Sandals on my side, I listen to the waves.

My forearms, my thighs gently toast

in the shimmering sun. My back blanketed

by the balm of the boulder embracing me.

My cheeks caressed by the crunchy kisses

of the calling birds; my spirit entranced

by the serenade of swoshing waves. Lured

into jasper dreams, I fall asleep

in the fleshy folds of my Father’s palm.
