Poetry is the journal of the sea animal living on land, wanting to fly in the air. Poetry is a search for syllables to shoot at the barriers of the unknown and the unknowable. Poetry is a phantom script telling how rainbows are made and why they go away. Climb mountains, sail seas.

All nature lies before me

Behind whitewashed walls.

 

Pine, bamboo and plum

Withstanding the bitter cold

By the garden’s gate.

 

Sounds from the garden

Raindrops on banana leaves,

Bamboo in the wind.

 

Cups floating downstream

Sounds of laughter fill the grove

On a summer night.

 

Here in my garden

A dragon has made its nest

On the lonely pine.
