Haiku Joy Al-Sofi - USA
A shimmering drop From the recent rain, trembles On the green leaf's edge.
Palm trees pirouette Impossible pinioned stars Dancing to wind songs.
Murmured soft whispers. Across a dark veranda The creak of a swing.
Uneasy footsteps Echo on the darkened street Past the empty shops.
Soft bloom on the peach He will take your sweet fuzz fruit Into his mouth, soon.
Frog, cricket and child In a moment they will start Their nightly chorus.
Bright rows of roses. From afar they have no thorns, Drawing near, draws blood.
An old photograph Like a sharp blade from the past Can reopen wounds.
On an ancient box A stream of laquered water Still flows through the years.
Old Bosnian maps. As if collecting paper Could save the people.
Some questions persist And once again we must ask What is to be done?
