Yearnings (for N. and T.) Jumoke Verissimo - Nigeria
We burnt candles and stares; sweat brood Over our bodies. And we like priests in deep Meditation over the sunken state of the world
Seek for true healing; a miracle to keep us intact, But the delusion from scalding heat, grooms us For that that will heal the ignition in our groins
Water doesn't wash hotness off our raging airs; anger, And lust-filled heats in our head, our minds, our books Burns us into bare-chestedness, and leads us into nuts
We hand out tales; illusions come out in stewing stare Meddling with desires, which count us out of reality Yet we keep hoping our wish will heal, we think, we
Wring out the pretence of love – the inconstancy Of flirting moments between two friends, desperate To clip off the birth of romance from very inception
We roam around desires, as we pined for absent Lovers, whilst our hearts refrigerate personal steams, And together, we give one long desired tuneful sough
We fan the heats, with prospects, our wants; eager To conceive this chance miracle that may ice our heat, We dissolve flesh, one time, gratefully – we think later.
