Poetry is the journal of the sea animal living on land, wanting to fly in the air. Poetry is a search for syllables to shoot at the barriers of the unknown and the unknowable. Poetry is a phantom script telling how rainbows are made and why they go away. Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance - Carl Sandburg..........Poetry should be great and unobtrusive, a thing which enters into one's soul, and does not startle it or amaze it with itself, but with its subject - John Keats .........Poetry is the breath and finer spirit of all knowledge - William Wordsworth ..........Poets utter great and wise things which they do not themselves understand - Plato .........No man was ever yet a great poet, without being at the same time a profound philosopher. Beyond empty windows

Books and broken toys

Lie scattered along the burning ripped-up road.

 

Roses entwine with rows of smoke

Rising from reborn ruins

The scent of rosemary mild

Mixes with garlic and olive and burning alive.

 

There is no place for these words in this world:

Spontaneous combustion, retaliation

Act of nature, measured

Self-defense.

 

Boughs are broken

By the side of the road

A cradle bursts into flames

 

The cedars are fallen

Still falling

Falling again.

جوي الصوفي - الولايات المتحدة / هونج كونج

نوافذ ُ خالية ٌ

خلفها كتبٌ ، و حطام لعبْ

مبعثرة ٌ في الطريق الممزق والملتهبْ

 

زهورٌ تسافر في طبقات دخان ٍ

تصاعد من بين أنقاض بعثٍ جديدٍ

ورائحة لبخور وأوراق أيكٍ

وخلٍّ وزيتونْ

وحرق البشرْ

 

فما من مكانٍ بعالمنا لكلام كهذا :

اشتعالٌ بلا سببٍ

ودفاعٌ عن النفس منضبط ٌ

وانتقام الطبيعة ْ

 

غصونٌ على جانب الدرب منكسرة ْ

ومهدٌ تفجرْ

 

وتسقط أشجار أرزٍ

وتسقط ُ

تسقط ثانية ً.
