i carry your pain with me

Judy Keung - Hong Kong

i carry your pain with me, i carry it

with trembling hands,

in my heart it burns,

like an inferno with flaming tongues,

tongues that slash my heavy heart.

It’s a fire i can’t put out.

i carry your love with me, i carry it

with a hankering heart,

in my heart it flows,

like a warm current with healing balm,

a balm that soothes my seething soul.

It’s a love i firmly hold.

i carry your tears with me, i carry them

with weeping palms,

in my heart they flood,

like streams bursting from a broken dam,

streams that cleanse your bleeding wounds,

It’s a scene i can’t forget.

i pray, i sincerely pray

i can carry your joy with me, i will carry it

with a skipping heart,

in my heart it prances,

like a child with an angel’s wings,

wings glistening with innocent joy.

It’s a joy i welcome home.
